We had a meeting with the mid wife on Monday and we have scheduled the 16th of January as the date that Vanilla Bean will be induced, should he not have arrived already. We selected the 16th because my brother is coming back from the UK specifically for the birth, and he leaves to go back home to the UK on the 20th, so we wanted to make sure that his trip wasn’t a wasted one.
In other baby news – My wife started washing all of the teeny tiny clothes this week (Picture below). We are also putting the last little bits and pieces together in his room, as he could drop in on us any day now.
Christmas
I had a pretty good Christmas overall. I ate WAY too much though! But I did have some good chats with the family and we managed to cool off with a dip in the pool a bit after midday. I also managed to score pretty well in the socks and toiletries department – Go Santa!
As this is my first Christmas as a PF blogger, I was a little surprised at home many people closed up shop on their blogs. I found I had so much more time on my hands as I was not reading anywhere near as many posts. I almost didn’t know what to do with myself. Please come back soon.
Posts This Week
This week I had 2 posts this Christmas week
- The first was a guest post about road rage.
- The second post was about saving animals left on death row that have been abandoned by their owners and left in shelters. The poor kitty cats and puppies
Welcome to the Pool Room
Time for the Pool Room and I have 3 new entries this week!
1st place this week goes to The Frugal Toad with a post titled – Ten Financial Lessons I Learned From My Mom’s Overspending. This is a great little refresher on things you can do to improve your finances, it’s not a huge post so go check it out.
2nd place this week goes to Liquid Independence at Freedom Thirty Five Blog who had a post titled – My New Saskatchewan Farm. I really liked this post, it’s in depth and explains well the 4 reasons why this is a good investment decision.
3rd place was a post over at Retire By Forty by Joe titled – A Little Active Income Goes A Long Way In Early Retirement. I think the reason why I enjoyed this post is because Joe is trying to escape the rat race by using passive income. It’s a great goal to set yourself and I love seeing the steps people take to achieve it. I would also love to join the ranks of being a full time passive income person, but the realist in me says that I have a long way to go.
Congratulations to this weeks winners – I hope everyone enjoys the posts mentioned above as much as I did.
For next week – If you think you have a top post and you want to make sure I see it, be sure to leave a comment somewhere on my blog and include the link in the Comment Luv section. I make sure I check every blog owners page if they have left a comment on my blog, so that’s a sure fire way to ensure I see your blog post.

Thanks for the mention. It’s an honor to make it into your pool room (^_^) I think pretty much everyone eats way too much on Christmas so you’re not alone
It’s interesting to read about your holiday activities like cooling off in the pool, because up here in the northern hemisphere, it’s literally freezing out there haha, especially where I live in Canada. At least our igloos won’t melt this way

No problems
If you were here you would want to cool off in the pool too. It’s currently 8:30 at night and still 28 degrees Celsius (82.4 Fahrenheit).
Even though I don’t plan on having kids for at least 7 years, I’m excited for all of your parent blog posts over the next few months and years!

7 years is very specific. Is your wife on the same page as you with that one?
Thanks for the mention! Yeah, passive income is quite difficult to build up especially if you are a corporate employee. Happy New Year!
My pleasure Joe, thanks for stopping by.
That is very exciting. My birthday is January 26th, so it’s a good month to be born.

Let’s hope he holds out until then, my wife is getting so big now that he almost looks like he is going to try and come out Alien style.
Awe, how exciting the baby will be here before you know it. I didn’t close up shop over Christmas but I wasn’t working so it wasn’t so bad. With all the projects I have on the go in January it will be super busy for me. I’m glad Christmas is finally over so we can get back to normal or somewhat normal around here. Have a good weekend mate. Mr.CBB

You were one of the few that didn’t close up shop, but many others did. January will be crazy busy for me too, hopefully I can stay on track though.
I can’t believe it is getting so close to baby day! Are you guys all ready or what??

Everything is ready, we are just waiting now.
Now that the date is set is it really starting to sink in for you? Ours in almost 8 weeks now and I can tell you that you will love every moments of it. The lack of sleep is completely worth it.
I think every time I look at my wife it sinks in. There is no hiding that she is pregnant now.
I’m baaaaack.
Your Vanilla Bean may arrive at any moment—that is so exciting! The experience is so sacred and thrilling and terrifying and so beyond surreal, and, as Sean mentioned upthread, lack of sleep and bumbling about like a drunken zombie for the next few months totally is worth it. I’m thrilled for you and Mrs. Glen and simply can not wait to read your musings as a new papa.
Happy to have you back Jennifer
I’m sure there will be plenty of interesting reading as I bumble my way around fatherhood.
