First off, we have a tardy baby. Those of you who know me well will know that tardiness is a pet peeve of mine, so I’m not thrilled that the little guy has decided to take his time. Plus this week in Australia has been one of the hottest for a while, so my wife and I have been taking small trips to my in-laws house to utilise their pool (and in the middle of writing this, to check a rouge alarm system).
Apparently Vanilla Bean has dropped, but he isn’t ready to come into the world just yet. Fortunately we have a backup plan! On the 16th of January my wife gets to have a pill (or something) which will force him to make a move. So no matter what, I’m going to be a dad within the next week!
New Logo
I don’t know if any of you noticed, but I have a new logo! I got the pig created on fiverr and the punch through effect in the background I made by following this great tutorial (http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/punch-through). I embossed the pig a little to make him a bit more 3d than what the artist did, but overall i’m very happy with him.

Oink Oink!
I’m wondering if you could take the time to answer my poll about my new logo.
Posts This Week
This week I had 2 posts this week
- The first was a collaborative post about Using Coupons to Save Money. I picked up a huge amount of Facebook shares on this one, I’m not sure why, but I’m glad people liked it enough to share.
- The second post was Sell Structured Settlement Payments – Lump Sum vs Annuity which includes a $1000 giveaway! I really had some fun learning about structured settlements as it is not something you hear a lot about in Australia.
I also got a lot of really good feed back regarding what I wrote, so thanks to everyone who left me a comment telling me they liked my work. It really brightens up my day whenever people do that
Carnival
I entered my blog into my first ever Carnival this week – the carnival of personal finance visit portland edition. I have had just a single hit from that entry thus far, so i’m not sure what all the fuss is about regarding entering your blog into these things.
Welcome to the Pool Room
Time for the Pool Room!
1st place this week goes to Free Money Finance with Reasons Why You Should Not Engineer Your Own Layoff. I really enjoyed reading this, it’s a bit longer than most posts, but it really is a good read.
2nd place this week goes to The Money Principle with Do you have debt? Time to get your numbers straight!. This post is smaller than the last one I assure you, but it is no less interesting! Maria goes through a heap of great debt tips, which anyone with debt should read.
3rd place was a post over at Debt Roundup with Should You Consolidate Credit Card Debt?. This article explains the reasons why you should look at consolidating your credit card debt. If you have a lot of different credit card debts then you should really check this out.
![]()
4th place (I know, it’s unusual for me to have 4 posts) goes to Mrs Frugal Rules over at Frugal Rules with her post on Working From Home – A Mom’s Perspective. It was different to hear from the lady of the house over at Frugal Rules, but she certainly knows how to write and her post made for some great reading if you are planning on working from home.
Congratulations to this weeks winners – I hope everyone enjoys the posts mentioned above as much as I did.
For next week – If you think you have a top post and you want to make sure I see it, be sure to leave a comment somewhere on my blog and include the link in the Comment Luv section. I make sure I check every blog owners page if they have left a comment on my blog, so that’s a sure fire way to ensure I see your blog post.

I like the new logo Glen. I think it looks awesome. Thank you very much for including me in your pool room, it is an honor.

No worries Grayson
The new logo looks great mate. As for the coupon post I shared it on FB the other day and it got a good response. Cheers mate. Mr.CBB

That explains it and it will also teach me for not getting on Facebook over the last week *hangs head in shame*, Thanks for sharing Mr.CBB you have an amazing bunch of Facebook followers!
I like the new piggy, but my daughter really like your old logo. Every time she saw it, she’d say “There’s that big piggy bank again”. I can’t wait to hear the birth announcement. It is so hard to wait those last few days. I had about two days of off and on contractions that would stop just short of needing to go to the hospital. She was a little teaser!

I’ve have to keep a bunch of posts stocked up ready to go so that I’m not madly trying to post stuff in the middle of having a new baby to look after.
I hope my wife has a short labor, it just doesn’t look like a lot of fun.
If you can please tell your daughter that i’m sorry I removed the old piggy and that I hope she comes to like the new piggy – he is very friendly
Hi Glen, and thanks. Wow! And have I been overwhelming people with the length of my articles? Thank Goodness, they are stories.
. Now he is 11 and absolutely great but still stubborn and determined.
The ‘pool room’ is a very good idea – being selective is a thing we bloggers should probably do a bit more of.
And I’ll be thinking about your wife and you on the 16th – my son decided to go on strike when he was to be born as well; and even induction didn’t do much good. Eventually he was taken out (C-section) and he looked so angry that it was obvious he had no intention to make a move yet

You post wasn’t that long, it was the one before yours in the pool room that was a bit of a monster.
I hope he comes out soon, it is just too hot to be over your due date around here.
Oh I like the logo! I would like to get a new one as well. Yours looks well-designed. Have a great weekend!

You have yourself a good weekend too.
Love the new logo! Not that the original was bad, but I like this one. We had to pull all of our kids out…I guess they were all too comfortable in there.
As you’ve noticed, the Carnivals really do not bring in much in terms of traffic, but they’re great for link building. Thanks for the mention Glen and look forward to hearing about the little one coming soon.

I look forward to finally posting about his arrival soon. Surely it can’t be far away…
I am excited for your brand growth but that pig looks like a warthog and also might be the stuff of my nightmares. lol.

Cool new logo Glen! I wouldn’t stand myself if I had to wait for a baby, even from day 1 I think! Although once he is here you’ll miss your peace and quiet… Enjoy your last weekend!

I think you’re right, I do like my peace and quiet. I might have to get noise cancelling headphones…
Like the new logo! The pig looks friendly but could kick ass if it needed to!

Awesome, I actually asked the designer to design something very similar to what you just said, so he must have done it well then.
Nice new logo! I know it is uncomfortable for your wife but the 16th of January is just around the corner. Enjoy the last few quiet days while you can.

Love the new logo and congrats on soon-to-be-becoming a father!!!!! Enjoy the time. I hope you take a break from all work related activities and get to spend some time with your new baby!

I’m actually having 3.5 months off from work as I am using my long service leave.
So hopefully I can help out around the place and get a good chance to bond with him.
I remember these days…walking constantly….doing whatever it took to get the babies to come (of course, we had two at once!). Catch up on your sleep now.

Tomorrow is the big day where he gets induced and is coming no matter what.
The new logo looks great. That’s something I need to do as well.
My niece was three weeks late, although the Dr. may have been wrong with the day she was conceived. It was a pretty long three weeks for us, and we’re not even her parents. I couldn’t imagine what you and your wife are going through. Good luck with the little vanilla bean.

Loving the new logo. Hoping your wife goes into labor soon. My sister was 2 weeks overdue, but had the baby naturally so she couldn’t take anything to get labor going. My sister said hot sauce can induce labor, but I’m sure you guys have tried that.

My wife hates hot food, so despite my suggesting that she try it, she hasn’t.
I like the new logo as well, much better than the old one, but that’s just my personal opinion. Good luck to you and the missus!

Nice logo, Glen! I had a lot of success on Fiverr outsourcing things here and there; they did a great job for you! I, too, have submitted to Carnivals. I am waiting to se what the fuss is myself. Great post!
Thanks Tony
I have only used fiverr twice and both times I was very happy with the outcome. Obviously there will be a few bad apples in the bunch, but for $5 you really can’t go too wrong.
Sleep now, Vanilla Bean won’t let you next week! Good luck with the delivery.
