I think I have said this every week so far, but seriously – where did this week go?

This week we have been out more nights than we are staying in…

  • We celebrated my mother in laws birthday with a dinner at their place.
  • We had my dads birthday at the local tavern.
  • We are seeing our old neighbours tonight at their new place.
  • Tomorrow we are having our first antenatal class and are seeing some friends for dinner at a burger joint.

The budget will certainly be taking a hit this week πŸ™

At least we have nothing to do on Sunday, so I should get to relax and watch the cricket most of the day.

Welcome to the Pool Room

In case you don’t know what the pool room is, I explain it in this post.

I liked heaps of posts this week and so limiting it to just a few is going to be quite difficult.

1st Place1st Place this week goes to Sicorra at Tackling our debt with this post (10 Ways to Boost Your Productivity). Seeing as I am always looking for new ways to improve my productivity, this post was a good reminder of the little things you can do to keep yourself heading in the right direction.

2nd Place

2nd Place goes to Max Wong with a post on Wise Bread titled (How My Hoarder Family Saved Christmas). I really liked this post as it echo’s my own views on how ridiculously expensive the whole Christmas shopping thing can be. It’s well worth a read if you feel you are spending too much at Christmas time.

3rd Place

3rd Place goes to Savvy Scot at The Savvy Scot with the following post (The 25 Year Growth of Average Wages). This post shows the huge discrepancies between the lower and upper income earners in the UK. It’s a short yet interesting read, that has some sobering stats on exactly how bad the situation is.

4th PlaceThis is the first time i’ve had a 4th place in the pool room, but this post made me laugh and caused me to really appreciate how good my wife is at saving. It was by Jenna at Broke Ass Mommy and the post is titledΒ  (Is Your Significant Other A Spender Or A Saver?). Go read and imagine how good those peanuts tasted.

Finally a non personal finance post which I had to include outside of my official Pool Room list was a post by DC titled (What I Care About In This Election). While the outcome of the US election has now been decided, it doesn’t change the importance of the topics (Economics and Liberty) that were covered in this post.

Congratulations to this weeks winners – I hope everyone enjoys the posts mentioned above as much as I did.

For next week – If you think you have a top post and you want to make sure I see it, be sure to leave a comment somewhere on my blog and include the link in the Comment Luv section. I make sure I check every blog owners page if they have left a comment on my blog, so that’s a sure fire way to ensure I see your blog post.

Until next time, have a great weekend all πŸ™‚
