So it’s the 21st of December and so far the world hasn’t ended. Phew!
This last week has been fairly hectic, I am trying to clean up all my projects at work before my extended leave at the end of next week where I am taking 4 months off work. I have also been busy trying to grow this blog as well as a smaller site that I manage.
So far the site growth is going very well, and each day I seem to be getting more and more new visitors. Google is really starting to show my some love as well, with the last few days bringing in about 30-40 search hits a day (almost all of them are going to my Commercial Christmas post). Google makes up over 95% of the searches hitting my site, does anyone even use any other search engines these days?
Next week is Christmas, so I expect things will be super busy around here as we go off to visit all the relatives and partake in some of the festivities. I hope everyone stays safe and has a great holiday.
Search Terms
I think i first saw a review of search terms done on Mr.CBB’s blog and so I’m borrowing it this week as I saw a couple of interesting search terms that led to someone visiting my site.
- Every Christmas i turn into a monster – Yikes!
- Large 1 metre tall coin bank – Not sure why Google decided to take you to my building a house page with that one, but sorry – There are no coin banks here.
- Can teachers in australia have visible tattoos – Sorry buddy, it seems like the world just isn’t ready yet.
Posts This Week
This week I had 2 posts
- The first was a giveaway post about making it through the month when you have run out of money.
- The second was my post on how to stay safe on the internet. I really put a lot of time and effort into this post, so I hope everyone found it useful and has taken the time to install all the free applications I mentioned.
Welcome to the Pool Room
Time for the Pool Room!
In case you don’t know what the pool room is, I explain it in this post.
1st place this week goes to James who had a post over at Canadian Budget Binder titled – A beginners Guide to Early Retirement. James goes into detail about how he plans on retiring in 10 years. It is a good read and hopefully will inspire you as much as it did me.
2nd place this week goes to Cindy at Mid life finance who had a post titled – 50 ways to save a buck or two next year. Cindy puts together a really good list of simple things that people can do to save money. If you think you know every way to save money, i’ll wager she has a tip or two you don’t know about.
3rd place was another great post over at My Money Design titled – Why you need to get your full 401K Matching as Early as Possible. I love talking about the power of compound interest and I think this article portrays exactly how powerful it can be. Well worth the read if you want to retire with some money.
Finally I really liked this quote from a post over at The Free Financial Advisor titled Budget Nightmares: What Are You Doing At 2 A.M.? – “Financial planning is easy. It’s either an income problem or an expense problem. If you can’t fix one, you have to fix the other by default or the plan won’t work.” In the comments Joe suggested that I should tattoo it to my hide… I’m not sure I agree…
Congratulations to this weeks winners – I hope everyone enjoys the posts mentioned above as much as I did.
For next week – If you think you have a top post and you want to make sure I see it, be sure to leave a comment somewhere on my blog and include the link in the Comment Luv section. I make sure I check every blog owners page if they have left a comment on my blog, so that’s a sure fire way to ensure I see your blog post.
Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy yourselves next week

Ha! The world might judge your tattoo….but wouldn’t you be an inspiration for the rest of us?
