Potty training is always something we’ve wanted our son to master pretty early on, but for one reason or another it didn’t all really click until recently. In fact, it all happened so fast after he started knowing what to do that in no time at all he went from basic potty training to being the potty king. I distinctly remember one day just sitting talking to my wife and hearing the toilet flush and the basin tap running. I raced down to the front of the house to find my son wiping his hands after washing them.

Needless to say, i was impressed, although I was also a little taken back at just how quickly things had progressed from understanding what the potty was, and full blown usage on his own.

The only thing we have left to do now is night time potty training, and to be honest, it’s not something i’m sure I know how to do. Obviously there will be plenty of accidents along the way, but not having to buy nappies (diapers) will be amazing.

Even at the moment with him in his undies all day long has saved us a heap of money in nappies, which were adding close to $25 a week to our grocery shop. We now only have to buy nappies one a fortnight for him as he only really wears them when he’s asleep.

Now that we have another little dude, and I have seen how quickly potty training can happen, I think my wife and I will try to get our newest son onto the potty way earlier than we did for our first son.

Anyway, if anyone has any tips on night time potty training, please shoot me a comment below, as it’s something I really want to start sooner rather than later.
